Utility Assistance (CEDA) available at NLEN
Utility bill assistance applications through the Community Economic Development Association of Cook County (CEDA) open on Wednesday, October 1st, 2025.
Priority applications open October 1st, and General Applications open November 1st.
Key enrollment requirements are included below:
Priority Group 1 Beginning October 1, 2025, households with at least one (1) member aged 60 or older, persons with a disability, families with children 5 & under, households disconnected from one or both utilities or in danger of being disconnected from one or both utilities can apply for LIHEAP benefits. This population is also eligible to apply for furnace repair or replacement. The Furnace Assistance program will be available until May 29, 2026, or until funds are exhausted.
Beginning November 1, 2025, all other Cook County households, including those in Priority Group 1, may apply for benefits.
People seeking CEDA assistance can apply by calling our Financial Opportunity Center via 773-265-7940 and scheduling an appointment. Our CEDA service hours are:
-Tuesday: 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM (Remote)
-Wednesday: 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM(In-person)
-Thursday: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM(In-person)
